Losses among the civilian population in Ukraine as of 8:00 on May 2

As of 8:00 a.m. on May 2, 2022, during on April 29,30 and on May 1, 32 civilians had been killed due to the Russian invasion, among them 2 children (excluding all victims in Mariupol, Volnovakha, Kyiv, Luhansk, Kherson, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia regions). 97 people were wounded, including 7 children.  8 civilians were captured; 2 citizens of Great Britain are among them, they delivered a humanitarian aid. Totally approximately 400 civilians were kidnapped by the Russian troops, they are mostly journalists, local government officials of the occupied settlements, the Ukrainian activists, teachers, as well as children and relatives of local authorities’ representatives.

The Russian forces fired evacuation vans, its picked civilians up from Popasna in the Luhansk region, where active fighting is going on. A connection with the drivers of the vans and passengers were lost. Ordinary volunteers – citizens of Ukraine were evacuating civilians. Later it has become known one of the volunteer is a prisoner of the Russian military. 

Children:

As of May 2, due to the Russian full-scale invasion against the population of Ukraine, 219 children were killed and 405 were wounded, according to the data of the Office of the General Prosecutor of Ukraine.   

Eight civilians were captured by the Russian troops in the occupied settlements:

According to the data of the war administration of the Zaporizhzhia region from the beginning of full-scale war the Russian occupiers have abducted or detained 213 civilians – region’s residents. Till now 88 civilians are remaining in a captivity, including children and teenagers, and also two citizens of the Great Britain. In the Kherson region (Abrykosivka village) a former serviceman – Nazar kahalniak dead as a result of tortures, the Russian occupiers abducted him and were torturing him during long time.

  1. On April 29 in Zaporizhzhia region the Russian military detained two citizens of the Great Britain, who were delivering a humanitarian aid to occupied settlements’ residents.
  2. In Melitopol (Zaporizhzhia region) on April 29 the Russian military kidnapped a local civilian, who earlier were serving in the Ukrainian armed forces.
  3. In Prymorsk (Zaporizhzhia region) the Russian military kidnapped a local civilian.
  4. In Melitopol (Zaporizhzhia region) on April 29 the Russian military detained local civilian at the check point, when he was trying to leave the occupied territories by an evacuation bus.
  5. In Zmiivka (Kherson region) the Russian military kidnapped a head of the local community – Mykola Kurivchak.
  6. In Nova Kakhovka (Kherson region) it has become known that on April 19 the Russian military abducted a member of the town’s council – Protokovylo Ihor.
  7. In Kakhovka (Kherson region) the Russian military abducted a school’s director – Pendalchuk Viktor. 

Losses of civilians in different regions and settlements of Ukraine:

Donetsk region: 15 people died, including 1 child. 32 civilians were injured, including 5 children.

Donetsk region – according to the National Police on April 29 in the Russian shelling 4 civilians were killed, including 1 child. Another 8 civilians were injured.

Vremivka (Donetsk region) – On April 29, one person died as a result of the Russian shelling.

Shandryholove (Donetsk region) – 1 civilian died on April 29.

Serebryanka (Donetsk region) – 2 local residents were injured on April 29.

Siversk (Donetsk region) – On April 29, 1 person was injured.

Mykolaivka (Donetsk region) – 1 civilian was wounded on April 29.

Dobropillya (Donetsk region) – On April 30, 7 civilians, including 3 children, were wounded in a shelling of a residential neighborhood by the Russian military.

Lyman (Donetsk region) – 1 person was injured. On May 1, four civilians were killed and seven were injured.

Drobysheve (Donetsk region) – 1 child was injured.

Volodymyrivka (Donetsk region) – On May 1, 3 civilians were injured.

Yarova (Donetsk region) – 1 person was injured on May 1.

Mariupol (Donetsk region) – information about 2 dead city residents was received on April 29. On April 30, the information about 3 dead civilians was clarified.

Dnipropetrovsk region: 1 person was injured.

Synelnykivskyi district (Dnipropetrovsk region) – one person was injured in the Russian rocket attack.

Zaporizhzhia region: 2 people were killed and 4 were injured.

Orikhiv (Zaporizhzhya region) – On May 1, 2 civilians were killed and 4 were injured in the shelling of a high-rise building by the Russian military.

Luhansk region: 7 civilians were killed and 9 were injured, including 1 child. There is no complete information due to active hostilities. On April 30, two evacuation buses driving by volunteers to Popasna to evacuate local residents were shot dead in the Popasna district. Communication with the drivers was lost, later it became known that one of the drivers was captured by the Russian military.

Popasna (Luhansk region) – 1 civilian died.

Loskutivka (Luhansk region) – one civilian died as a result of the Russian shelling on April 30.

Lysychansk (Luhansk region) – on April 30 rescuers came under fire, 2 people had shrapnel wounds. On May 1, one person was killed and one civilian was injured.

Novodruzhesk (Luhansk region) – 1 civilian died on April 30.

Zolote (Luhansk region) – On May 1, 1 person was killed and 1 child was injured in the Russian shelling.

Luhansk region – on April 29, 4 wounded residents of Luhansk region in Bakhmut and 2 wounded were registered in Svitlodarsk (Donetsk region). Two people died (April 30 and May 1), and on May 1, 1 injured person was registered at the Bakhmut hospital (all of them are residents of Luhansk region, who were registered in Bakhmut – Donetsk region).

Mykolaiv region: The Russian military continues to fire on settlements of the Mykolaiv region, as a result of attacks on April 29 13 civilians were wounded, on April 30 5 local residents were wounded, on May 1 9 people were wounded.

Kharkiv region: 8 people died, including 1 child. Wounded – 23.

Kharkiv – as a result of the Russian shelling of a residential neighborhood on April 30, one person was injured.

Ruska Lozova (Kharkiv region) – as a result of the Russian shelling of the settlement on April 29, 1 person was killed and 12 were injured.

Husarivka (Kharkiv region) – after the liberation of the settlement by the Ukrainian military, the body of a tortured and brutally killed civilian was found. Also near the settlement was found a shot civilian car, the whole family was killed – mother, father and three-year-old child. According to preliminary information, the family wanted to flee the Russian-occupied territories of Kharkiv region.

Balakliya (Kharkiv region) – 1 civilian was wounded on April 30.

Derhachi (Kharkiv region) – On April 30, 1 person was injured.

Zolochiv, Bohodukhiv, Mala Danylivka (Kharkiv region) – on May 1, 3 civilians were killed and 8 were injured.

Kherson region: 1 child was injured. The information is incomplete, as a large part of the region is occupied by the Russian troops. Lyubimivka (Kherson region) – a 12-year-girl was injured.
