SAVE MARIUPOL

According to approximate figures, several thousand people are remaining in the bomb shelters of the Azovstal plant, about half of them civilians – women and children. The Russian authorities have not yet allowed the opening of a humanitarian corridor for the releasing of civilians from Azovstal. All people have been under strict blockade for almost 2 months. Food and water remain for a few days. Among the children there are very small, even one-year-old. In addition to the exhausting blockade, people are constantly staying under air and artillery fire, despite “orders” from the Russian President Vladimir Putin to “stop the shelling.” The Ukrainian authorities are offering the Russian side various options to save the people – including the exchange of all Russian prisoners of war for civilians in Mariupol. However, Russia has so far not contributed in any way for releasing of civilians. More than 100,000 civilians still remain in the city. Satellite photos of huge mass graves have appeared in the media, at one of which, according to preliminary estimates of Deputy Mayor Andriushchenko, about 1,000 civilians may be buried.
