Losses among the civilian population in Ukraine as of 8:00 on March 22

As of 8:00 am on March 22, 2022, 25 civilians were killed in the Russian invasion last day (excluding all victims in Mariupol, Volnovakha, Kyiv, Luhansk, Kharkiv and Kherson regions).  69 were injured, including 14 children.  Four civilians were captured, and according to official information, more than 20 civilians were abducted or taken prisoner, mostly local government officials in Russian-occupied cities and Ukrainian activists.

SAVE Mariupol

According to incomplete information, about 3,000 civilians have already died in Mariupol.  According to available but incomplete information, 1 person was killed and 3 civilians were injured on March 21.

According to US intelligence, 50% of air strikes by Russian military aircraft are inflicted on Mariupol.  The city needs a long ceasefire, like Syria, when a week of silence was given, in order to evacuate the surviving civilians and the wounded.  At the same time, bring the necessary humanitarian aid for those who cannot leave.

Russian military planes take off from 40 airfields in Belarus (almost all airfields in Belarus are used for airstrikes in Ukraine), as well as in the Russian Federation and the occupied Crimea.

Also in the Donetsk region on March 21, the Russian army used banned phosphorous bombs for shelling.

Children:

As of March 21, as a result of Russia’s full-scale war against the population of Ukraine, according to incomplete information, 115 children were killed and 148 wounded, according to the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.

In the Zaporizhia region, 14 children have been injured in the last three days, all of them injured in shelling of civilian cars while driving, including cars that were able to leave blocked Mariupol.

On March 21, the Russian army shelled a children’s hospital in Severodonetsk, Luhansk Oblast, destroying it completely.  The number of victims is being clarified.

 4 civilians were detained and taken prisoner, mostly heads of local authorities of the settlements occupied by Russian troops:

 1. In the Kherson area the mayor of Berislav – Alexander Shapovalov is kidnapped.  He was abducted by the Russian military along with a local activist (name unknown).

 2. In the Chernihiv region, the Russian military abducted the head of the village Mykola Budalovsky, deputy and school principal Tatiana Bezlyudna.

 3. Mykola Sykalenko, the head of the Tsyrkunivka village council, was abducted in Kharkiv region.

 The day before he was taken prisoner (information to be specified):

  • Secretary of the City Council of Nova Kakhovka (Kherson region) Dmitry Vasiliev
  • Mayor of Dniprorudny Yevhen Matveev;
  • Chairman of the Melitopol District Council Serhiy Priyma;
  • Head of the Ivankiv District Administration Tetiana Svyridenko;
  • Secretary of the Skadovsk City Council Yuri Palyukh;
  • rescuer of the State Emergency Service Oleksiy Danchenko;
  • volunteer – paramedic Julia Payevska;
  • Hromadsky journalist Victoria Roshchyna.

Losses of civilians in different cities of Ukraine:

Kyiv region: 9 people died, 1 was injured.

Kyiv – as a result of an air strike in one of the residential areas of Kyiv, the number of victims increased to 8 dead, 1 person was injured.

Irpin (Kyiv region) – Russian military killed Ukrainian activist Oleh Hryhoruk.

Donetsk region: 5 civilians killed and 24 wounded.

Avdiivka (Donetsk region) – the Russian military carried out air and artillery strikes, as a result of which 5 civilians were killed and 19 others were wounded.

Pokrovsk (Donetsk region) – 3 civilians were wounded by artillery shelling.

Ocheretyne (Donetsk region) – 2 civilians were injured.

Zhytomyr region: 1 person died

Selets (Zhytomyr region) – 1 civilian was killed as a result of shelling by Russian troops with “GRAD” volley fire systems

Zaporizhzhia region: 11 people were injured, including 7 children.

Polohy (Zaporizhzhya region) – as a result of shelling by Russian military civilian cars that left Mariupol, 4 children were injured, 1 child in serious condition.  During the shelling of other civilian cars, 6 civilians were injured, including 2 children.

Kamyanske (Zaporizhzhya region) – the Russian military fired on a civilian car, injuring one child.

Luhansk region: 2 civilians were killed and 8 were injured.

Lysychansk (Luhansk region) – Russian troops fired heavy artillery at the city, killing 2 people and wounding three.

Luhansk region – 5 wounded civilians.

Mykolaiv region: 3 people died, 1 was injured

Mykolayiv – Russian troops dropped parachute bombs on the city center, the bombs hit a hospital, a hotel and a gas station.  3 civilians were killed and 1 was injured.

Odesa – as a result of shelling of residential neighborhoods by Russian warships, one person was injured.

Kharkiv region: 2 people were killed and 1 was injured

Kharkiv – One of the last prisoners of the Nazi camp Buchenwald, Boris Romanchenko, died as a result of the Russian shelling of a high-rise apartment building. He was 96 years old.

Russian troops fired on a prison in Kharkiv, killing one prisoner.

Dergachi (Kharkiv region) – 1 person was injured in the shelling.

Kherson region: 4 people were injured

Kherson – 4 locals were injured during a peaceful rally against the Russian occupation of the city.
