Losses among the civilian population in Ukraine as of 8:00 on May 9

As of 8:00 a.m. on May 9, 2022, during on May 5,6,7,8 96 civilians had been killed due to the Russian invasion, among them 5 children (excluding all victims in Mariupol, Volnovakha, Kyiv, Luhansk, Kherson, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia regions). 178 people were wounded, including 7 children.  5 civilians were captured. Totally more than 400 civilians were kidnapped by the Russian troops, they are mostly journalists, local government officials of the occupied settlements, the Ukrainian activists, teachers, as well as children and relatives of local authorities’ representatives.

Children:

As of May 9, due to the Russian full-scale invasion against the population of Ukraine, 226 children were killed and 415 were wounded, according to the data of the Office of the General Prosecutor of Ukraine.

Five civilians were captured by the Russian troops in the occupied settlements:

  1. In Oleshky (Kherson region) – Olexandr Mukhin, a former director of the sea port was abducted.
  2. In Troiany, Berdiansk, Tokmak and Melitopol (Zaporizhzhia region) – the Russian military abducted 4 civilians.

Losses of civilians in different regions and settlements of Ukraine:

Kyiv region: as of May 9, 14 people more else have been identified, including 2 children. 1 child was injured.

Brovary district (Kyiv region) – on May 8, a man blew up a mine left by the Russian military.

Bucha district – The body of a tortured civilian man was found in Russian trenches on April 4. Also on May 5, the bodies of 2 dead men were found. According to witnesses, the men tried to leave the war zone, but the Russian military shot all civilian cars. After the car was shot down, the Russians moved the car with the men on the tank. Four civilians were killed in the shelling, including a 10-year-old girl.

Makariv community (Kyiv region) – the body of a man was found, who was first wounded by the Russian military, and when he reached his house, they shot from a tank around the house. The man died.

Irpin (Kyiv region) – it has become known that during the occupation of the town, the Russian military killed two men in the back of the head.

Kyiv region – it has become known that the Russian military shot dead a civilian car in which the family was driving in February. Father, mother and teenage son died. A five-year-old girl was injured.

Donetsk region: 11 people died. 61 civilians were injured.

Kramatorsk (Donetsk region) – On May 5, 25 civilians were injured in Russian missile strikes on residential houses, schools and other civilian infrastructure.

Chasovy Yar (Donetsk region) – On May 5, one civilian was killed and 17 were wounded in Russian shelling.

Novomykhailivka (Donetsk region) – 1 local resident died on May 5.

Lyman (Donetsk region) – on May 5, information about 1 wounded civilian was clarified. On May 6, one civilian was killed and three were injured. On May 8, 3 people were injured.

Siversk (Donetsk region) – 2 people were injured on May 6. On May 8, one civilian was injured.

Bakhmut (Donetsk region) – On May 7, 2 people were killed by Russian airstrikes on apartment buildings.

Kostiantynivka (Donetsk region) – On May 7, 2 civilians were killed and 3 were injured.

Malotaranovka (Donetsk region) – On May 7, two civilians were wounded in a shelling of a residential neighborhood by the Russian military.

Zvanivka (Donetsk region) – On May 7, 2 civilians were injured.

Drobysheve (Donetsk region) – as a result of the Russian shelling on May 7, one civilian was wounded.

Marinka, Donetsk region) – 1 person was injured on May 7.

Ocheretine (Donetsk region) – On May 8, 2 people died during the Russian shelling.

New York (Donetsk region) – On May 8, one civilian was killed.

Vuhledar (Donetsk region) – 1 person was killed and 1 was injured on May 8.

Paraskoviivka (Donetsk region) – 1 civilian was injured.

Dnipropetrovsk region: 1 child died.

Sinelnikovsky district (Dnipropetrovsk region) – on May 8, a child died as a result of a shell detonation.

Luhansk region: according to preliminary information, 66 civilians were killed, including 2 children. 26 were injured, including 3 children. There is no complete information due to active hostilities.

Severodonetsk (Luhansk region) – 2 people died on May 5. On May 8, a woman died.

Popasna (Luhansk region) – On May 5, the Russian military fired on a civilian car carrying local residents, injuring all four passengers, including a 15-year-old girl.

Privillia (Luhansk region) – On May 7, 2 children and one woman were killed and 2 others were injured in the Russian shelling.

Belohorivka (Luhansk region) – On May 7, the Russian army dropped an air bomb on a school in the basement of which civilians were hiding. At the same time, 60 civilians were killed. Among them 2 volunteers were from the Zakarpattia region. 7 people were injured.

Luhansk region – 1 dead and 5 wounded residents of Luhansk region were registered in Bakhmut on May 5 (Donetsk region). On May 6, one wounded resident of Luhansk region was registered in Bakhmut. On May 8, 6 wounded residents of Luhansk region were registered in Bakhmut.

Mykolaiv region: The Russian military continues to fire on settlements of the Mykolaiv region, as a result of attacks on May 5 15 civilians are wounded. On May 6, 5 people were injured, on May 7, 12 civilians were wounded, on May 8, 27 civilians were wounded, and on May 9, 10 civilians were injured.

Odesa region: 4 people were injured.

Odesa – On May 7, the Russian army again launched a rocket attack on residential buildings. As a result of the shelling, 3 people were injured. On May 8, one person was injured in rocket attacks.

Kharkiv region: 5 people died. Wounded – 13.

Kharkiv – On May 6, the Russian military fired on the museum of Ukrainian philosopher Hryhoriy Skovoroda, injuring a museum employee.

Kharkiv district (Kharkiv region) – On May 8, 4 people were injured in the Russian shelling. Also 3 rescuers were injured during demining of the settlement.

Cirkuny (Kharkiv region) – 1 person died on May 8. After the liberation of the settlement, the bodies of 2 women were found, which exploded on a stretcher.

Bohodukhiv district – on May 8, 2 civilians were killed and 4 were injured.

Lozova community – on May 8, 1 person was injured.

Zolochiv community – On May 8, one person was injured.

Kherson region: 4 civilians were injured. The information is incomplete, as a large part of the region is occupied by Russian troops. Hola Prystan (Kherson region) – On May 7, 4 people were injured in a shelling.
